Hiking in Washington State

3 Travel Nursing Locations Whose Beauty Will Knock Your Socks Off

These three locales will renew your appreciation of our planet's awesomeness - on Earth Day and every day!
Every April, Earth Day reminds us of the diversity and beauty to be found all around us. Our planet is wondrous and life-giving, and, if we're in a position to do so, we should see and appreciate as much of it as possible.
Travel nurses are in a unique position to do just that. There are natural wonders to be found in every location, so for now, we'll just recommend three locations that -- travelers tell us -- are bursting with unspoiled natural beauty. (And so many Instagram opportunities!)
  1. Washington State - Once you head out of Washington's big cities, you might feel like the this state is mostly made of parks. And you wouldn't be entirely wrong. Over half of the state's forestland is publicly owned. Plus, did you know that entry to Washington state parks is free on Earth Day? P.S. Check out Washington's Discover Pass. If you love hiking, rafting and all things outdoorsy, it's is a great idea.
  2. Georgia - Atlanta is always abuzz, but Georgia is also home to vast peaceful landscapes and mountain vistas. Check out Tallulah Gorge or the Okefenokee swamp when you're here. Or you might want to think about participating in one of the local Audubon Society's bird-walks. Their guides will open your eyes to the habitats of our tuneful feathered friends who are among the planet's most vulnerable species.
  3. Maine - If you love rugged landscapes and that clean, clipped New-England feeling, we definitely encourage you to visit Maine. If you hike Mount Katahdin, Maine's tallest peak, you'll be at the northern end of the Appalachian trail. Whoa! Even if you don't make it to the southern end (in Springer Mountain, GA by the way), you can stop for some nourishment from Maine's sustainable and organic farming movement; Gilsland Farm in Falmouth is a popular destination for gardeners and foodies alike.
